The setting is an important contextual part of any story. In Jahi's case the setting is a central part to the entire controversy.
Oakland, California
Oakland is the neighboring city to San Fransisco, California. As a coastal city, Oakland took root right on the San Fransisco Bay. The entire city is comprised of a complex web of bridges that connect different parts of the city to others. Unlike the infamous New York taxi cabs, San Fransisco has a cable car system that is used for transportation.Giles, Richard "San Fransisco Cityscape" 3-14-06 via Flickr Attribution Non-Commercial 2.0 Generic |
The weather is pretty temperate, however, a dense fog is usually present year round. Near the water a chilling breeze will fill your nostrils and penetrate your coat. Large freight ships can be seen off in the distance, and towards the interior of city the streets are filled with homeless people. The city is abuzz with the chatter of homeless people and the honking of restless drivers. Nothing beats San Fransisco traffic, except for maybe LA traffic (oh California).
The hospital is located across the bay from Berkeley, but on the outskirts of San Fransisco. It overlooks the water, and trees liter the outsides. The building itself stands beige against a normally cloudy grey background. Sirens are followed by ambulances and the doors open and close with the sick entering and the healthy recovering.
